Wright to Obama: 'Coming after you'

Now this is interesting. Wright seems to be saying that he expects Obama to make the changes Write has been preaching on for years. Obama has heard all of these and to some degree agrees with them. Otherwise he would have naturally left the church long ago. So it's hard to think Obama will not try to implement sopme of what Wright preaches.

Therefore is is NOW a legitimate campaign issue. Obama IS going to be pressured to implement all the stuff he's tacitly agreed to all these years. So Wright has just made the last 20 years of his sermons legitimate targets. What has Wright preached on? What issues keep coming up? What is the tone of those sermons. Etc etc etc..

Can Obama deliver on his promise of a new majority?

I've been pulling for Obama to win the nomination because I don't see how he can win the general election. Are American's desperate enough to actually elect this guy? He gives great speeches that are short on details. I could give the guy a chance if I could hear his policies and not just his "ideas". But when I hear specifics it's how he wants to cut NASA spending to pay for more social programs. If that's the "new progressivism"... NO THANK YOU.

Obama supporter cannot name any of Obama Achievements

Here is Texas State Senator Kirk Watson on national cable television trying to "support" Obama... but he can't...

He says Obama "inspires" and is able to "layout a vision" and "solutions" but apparently none of them can be named. Please don't share with any Democrat in Texas or Ohio until after they nominate this guy.

Superdelegates make winning Elections Irrelevant

Top Clinton Adviser Says Superdelegates Will Decide Election, Obama’s Victories ‘Irrelevant’ - You Decide 08!

This is wonderful. If Clinton wins this way, it will destroy the party. Obama might even be able to run as an independent like Lieberman did when the "party" selected someone the voters of Connecticut did not want. In that case it was the voters of the democratic primary that selected a different candidate, but while they won the primary, they were unable to force that choice onto the voters of Connecticut. And Lieberman won "independent" of the party.

Likewise, the party super-delegates might be able to force the nomination of Clinton, but Obama might be able to run "independent" of the party leadership. But of course, do that would almost guarantee loosing the general election, and Obama may be wise to avoid that.

But if Clinton wins this way, I can see the first question in a debate with McCain.

"Senator Clinton, if elected, how can you be trusted to enforce laws that you disagree with or that harm your political ambitions if you don't even follow the rules of your own party when they are in your way."
I think it is interesting to see that the "leadership" of BOTH parties are loosing control of the party. Both Obama and McCain are winning even though they were not the choice of the "establishment". They both appeal greatly to moderates and centrist, but I think Obama will be seen as the more "radical" or "extreme" and "liberal" of the he and McCain. Especially if he ever gives details of exactly what CHANGE he is going to bring. [This Post Continues after the jump...]

Clinton Rally at Catholic University - Opps!

Clinton Rally at Catholic University Sparks Controversy
I guess Hillary forgot her strong support for abortion is just a little at odd's with the Catholic Church's

Our Catholic institutions must promote the clear understanding of our deep moral convictions on an issue like abortion, an act that the Church calls 'an unspeakable crime' and a non negotiable issue.
Couldn't have said it better myself.... [This Post Continues after the jump...]

Democratic Debate - Live Blogging

Well, I'm watching the debate and I'm not impressed. This is my first attempt at "Live Blogging"....

VOTING RECORD

They are getting wrapped around the axle about their records. Each one picks a post vote of another candidate and criticizes it. When the person tries to defend themselves they have two problems.

1) They might not remember the facts of that particular bill. If they mispeak, they will be called on it later, if they don't comment, they look weak.

2) There might have been a good reason for them to vote how they did, but it can't be summed up in 30-90 seconds. The attack is a quick and clean sound bite for the evening news, the defene is awkward and detail oriented.

HEALTH CARE

Now they are on health care. Hilary got her sound bite and AND criticized Obama on his past votes. They are arguing over mandatory insurance, and both Clinton and Edwards think it will help to FORCE people to get coverage when they can't afford. Obama thinks those who want and need it will get it if they can afford it even if it is not "required". None of them address how it will become affordable or better than now.

IRAQ

Now they are on Iraq

  • Clinton - Will start pulling troops within 60 days of taking office. Nearly all out by end of the year.
  • Edwards - ALL troops out of combat in first year, no permanent bases
  • Obama - Says money could be used for "boardband lines" (sounds like "let them surf the internet" to me)

Clinton is opposed to Bush's plan to make deals with Iraq about bases. Clinton says it's a treaty and would need Senate approval. I haven't heard anything on this, but she sounds right.

Now a commercial and intermission... [This Post Continues after the jump...]

Clinton - Women Can't be Illegal Immigrants

Clinton said today that "No woman is illegal" when a man said his wife was "illegal". It seems obvious the man was saying his wife was an illegal immigrant, and Hillary seemed to be saying the law doesn't apply to WOMEN. Is this what Clinton stands for? Special treatment for people who break the law just because they are women? As President is she not going to enforce the law equally. She might with immigration law, because it will all be equally UNENFORCED with her as President.

Clinton: Right-Wing Conspiracy Is Back

It's BACK !!!!!! And better than ever!!

Clinton: Right-Wing Conspiracy Is Back

Funny, but Clinton's own new bill would "make it a crime to send misleading or fraudulent information to voters." I certainly think claiming there is a "vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" is misleading. Unless she can prove there is a coordinated effort to break election laws as opposed to just a coordinated effort to win elections legally.
