Say you publish a book about NASA's Moon and Mars exploration. But then say it can ONLY be used in a classroom that doesn't even mention that the money could maybe be used (perhaps better) in other government programs. Maybe even other scientific programs here on Earth. Or that the book can only be used in a classroom that doesn't even mention the underlying assumption that we SHOULD explorer the solar system by sending people to other planets.
On the Copyright issue, Copyright is now being used to tell people HOW they can use material after they bought it. The mentality is very similar to HOA's (Home Owner Associations). Even after you BUY something, what you do with it supposedly effects the "value" of the books or houses you didn't buy, so people (who didn't buy your house or book) claim a right to tell you how you use the things you own. It makes ownership less and less meaningful. And its not isolated, CD and DVD makers are constantly telling us what we can and cannot do with the items we have actually purchased, now Book authors are doing the same thing.
